Sherilyn Emberton

Director of Higher Education and President of Huntington University

Dr. Sherilyn Emberton became President of Huntington University in 2013. The person in that role also serves as the Director of Higher Education for the US National Conference.

Before coming to Huntington University, Dr. Emberton worked for 17 years in higher education:

  • 1996-1999: Texas State Technical College in Marshall, Texas.
  • 1999-2007: LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, becoming Dean of the School of Education and, later, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. LeTourneau is a Christ-centered university with 2800+ students.
  • 2007-2010: Provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. At Lincoln, a secular liberal arts school with an enrollment of over 4300 students, she gave oversight to seven academic schools and 12 off-campus sites in three states, managing an annual budget of $30 million. She instituted offering doctoral degrees in medicine, education, and law, along with professional programs in other health-related fields. She also opened four new off-campus sites in Kentucky and Tennessee.
  • 2010-2013: Provost and vice president for academic affairs at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. This is a private, faith-based residential liberal arts college. She provided oversight of seven academic schools, institutional technology, institutional research and planning, international education, and other areas.

Dr. Emberton holds degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University (Bachelor of Science in Education and the Master of Education) and from Texas A&M University-Commerce (Doctor of Education).

Dr. Emberton was born and raised in Texas, and is a life-long Christian.
