About Our Websites
Steve Dennie, Communications Director (and Webmaster)
Churches occasionally contact me for suggestions regarding their own websites, and to see how we do things. Here, for those interested, is a description of how this site and the related sites were put together.
UB.org
Graphic Design
Mark Wells, a graphic designer from Dayton, Ohio, created the look for the UB.org site. He completed his templates in March 2011. Mark founded Antistatic in 2005. He’s a wonderful Christian guy and absolutely great to work with. He has tackled a variety of design projects for Global Ministries, and also designed the logo for the 2011 US National Conference.
WordPress Integration
Mark’s Photoshop templates were turned over to Mainstreet Open, a firm in Oklahoma City, Okla. WordPress is one of their specialties (Facebook is another), and they’ve done a lot of work with churches, especially magachurches. Terrell Sanders, the owner and founder, is a fine Christian guy and the brainchild behind the MinistryCOM conferences, which (until discontinued in 2010) brought together hundreds of Christian communications professionals each year. That’s how I became acquainted with him.
Adam White, Mainstreet’s WordPress specialist, built a WordPress site around Mark Wells’ design, using a theme (The Professional) from ElegantThemes.com. Adam had the site mostly in place by the end of June 2011. I then spent the next couple months filling the site with content, and regularly asking Adam to make tweaks here and there.
The site finally went live in early November 2011. The site is hosted by MainstreetOpen on Hostgator.com.
UBGlobal.org
The Global Ministries site, which had been located at UBMissions.com for about 10 years, went live at UBGlobal.org in September 2010. Mark Wells totally designed this site, using the Expression Engine content management system.
UBCentral.org
UBCentral was launched in November 2009. MainStreetOpen.com built the site around the BigHeader Folio theme, which we purchased through Themeforest.net. In October 2011, Adam White added a header, designed by Mark Wells, to match the look of the new UB.org site.
UBChurches.org
Our online church directory runs out of a Filemaker database, and has been hosted by PointinSpace.com since January 2011. Mark Wells added a header and other design elements to match the templates he created for UB.org.
Adam White added the “Related Sites” feature to all three sites.
